Matt
Broughton - Fiddler/Band Manager, Vocals
Born the third son of a career Marine, Matt started his
visit to this planet in the swamps of North Caroline.
His father's duty led the family across the country, and to
Europe. Matt started playing the violin,
at age 11,
while living in Germany. He trained as
a classical musician extensively through high school, and attended 3
semesters
at the Montana State University School of Music. He
burnt out on classical music and took a few years off, then he
discovered American roots music and bluegrass, and dived in head first. After teaching himself to play mandolin, he
formed a band with his buddy Dave (The Dave n' Matthew's Band) in 2002. This project continued for a few years and
transformed into Sticky Fingers, now called the Bridger Creek Boys. In April
of 2005, Matt broke his back and right arm in a viscious snowboarding
accident. After 2.5 months of a
dreadful music-free rehabilitation and Dave's departure from town, he
reformed
Sticky Fingers in July. Due to the
presence of a superior mandolinist playing in the group(Phil), Matt
spends
most of
his time fiddlin'. The joy of playing
in an ensemble drove him to take the role of band manager, and promote
the
project.
He is an active private music teacher, with a current
studio of 16 students, both fiddle/violin and mandolin.
He can be reached at The Matthew Broughton
Music Studio 586-0817.
